2022 Volkswagen Tiguan: Release Date, Specs, Features

New VW Tiguan For Sale

The 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan is coming to O'Steen Volkswagen in Jacksonville soon, and our team can't wait! Whenever there is a new Volkswagen Tiguan for sale, they tend to fly off the lot quickly at our dealership. We know the 2022 VW Tiguan will, too. The newest VW Tiguan is said to be completely revamped with new design and technology. Although many of the juicy details about the SUV are starting to hit the automotive news cycle, the release date isn't quite set yet. The 2022 VW Tiguan is estimated to hit United States dealerships in the Fall of 2021. Until then, strap in as we tell you all about the details we know so far!

An Updated Design Aesthetic

You will definitely be able to recognize the 2022 VW Tiguan, but you will also enjoy the nice styling refresh on the new model. The style makes it look more like brother vehicles Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport. Sharp styling, a wider grille, a reshaped bumper, a new wheel design, and updated LED headlights and tail lights stand out on this revamp.

On the inside, you will get a variety of driver-assistance upgrades that prior Tiguan SUVs could not offer. A new, multifunction steering wheel with touch-sensitive controls, a digital gauge display, and heated seating now come standard in the base trim. Speaking of trims, the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan is expected to come in the S, SE, SE R-Line Black, and SEL R-Line trims. Of course, you'll want to look towards the VW Tiguan R-Line SUVs for even more added styling elements on your exterior.

The 2022 VW Tiguan still remains a compact crossover but is big enough to have a third row. The third row will still be an option --  an attribute that close competition cannot provide. This allows you to seat either five passengers (without the third row) or seven passengers (with the added bench) in your 2022 VW Tiguan.

The Tech Specs

Exciting upgrades fill multiple trim levels of the new SUV. Every trim except the S will get a touch-sensitive climate control panel that allows you to adjust cabin temperature and fan speed. Adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and Travel Assist (the semi-autonomous driving mode) will also be standard on the last three trims. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a 480-watt Fender premium sound system, and a Wi-Fi hot spot can be seen on every trim. Touchscreens are now upgraded to either the standard 8-inch display or an available 10.25-inch display that both pair with the Volkswagen MIB3 modular infotainment system. A vibrant 15-color ambient lighting system is also available.

Under the hood of every 2022 VW Tiguan is the same engine seen on the 2021 model. You'll get a 2.0L turbo-four engine that provides 184 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque. Front-Wheel Drive is standard, but 4MOTION All-Wheel Drive is optional.

Frequently Asked Questions About the 2022 VW Tiguan

When will the 2022 VW Tiguan be available?

There is no official release date from Volkswagen automotive engineers yet. However, many automotive sites are reporting that the VW Tiguan will arrive in the Fall of 2021. Where is the VW Tiguan built?

The new 2022 VW Tiguan has quite the assembly line. The SUV is built in four different assembly plants around the world. The long-wheelbase platform allows for room for the optional third row and more cargo space.

How long will a VW Tiguan last?

This entirely depends on how you care for it. As the saying goes, "you get what you give." These vehicles are built to last if you properly care for them. As long as you keep up with regular oil changes, brake checks, tire rotation, and other maintenance, you can expect your VW Tiguan to last over 150,000 miles. That's a lot of miles! Our Volkswagen dealership has a great service department that is here to help your VW Tiguan run beautifully for as long as you have it.
