The 2027 Volkswagen Taos: What We Like

If your daily drive involves merging onto JTB during rush hour, you need a powertrain that reacts when you step on the gas. The Taos features a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine packing 174 hp/184 lb-ft of torque. Paired with a smooth 8-speed automatic transmission, it gives you plenty of pass-ability. Prefer a shiftier feel? Opt for the available 7-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission paired with 4MOTION AWD. Best of all, with an EPA-estimated 27 city / 35 highway mpg¹,, you can breeze right past those gas stations on Phillips Highway.

A spontaneous trip to Mickler’s Landing or a weekend getaway to St. Augustine often requires packing half your house. The Taos handles it with ease, offering a massive 65.9 cubic feet of maximum cargo space with the second-row seats folded flat. Throw in paddleboards, beach chairs, coolers, or luggage without breaking a sweat. Standard black roof rails make adding crossbars a breeze for extra gear. When the weather gets steamy, the Climatronic dual-zone automatic climate control and available ventilated front seats to keep you cool.
